The last couple of recording-sessions last week were pretty exhausting and intense. As concentrating on recording vocals we weren't quite on scedule with updating this blog. But to make up for it the impressions of last week are even more detailed than the ones from the previous entries.
While we were able to record all vocal-tracks for the whole album, we also had a little visit by some good friends of ours - Sebastian Gsuck and Tobias Strauch - who were pretty cool about pitching in some hot string-arrangements. At the end of the week we had a little shouting-party with some more of our crazy friends who went pretty wild on some of the tracks. Having another party with a big live-unplugged set by Toby at the Irish Pub Bornheim on saturday 25th we were able to close that chapter elegantly and get ready for the next steps in making this record fresh and sound.
DAY 9
02/17/2012
We are moving on. Bass-recording sessions and vocal-sound-sessions were on the to-do-list on friday. Pogo came, saw and conquered. He put down all bass-tracks for all the songs - wicked!
Slightley before that Toby and Andi ripped away a badass vocal-sound, recording the first tracks for song no. 1.
DAY 8
02/15/2012
We did it. We finally have put down all guitars for this record finishing with just a few acoustic guitars. It already sound so fat that we got scared ourselves there for a moment. Tonight Pogo will stop by for a pure and evil bass-recording-session.
DAY 7
02/12/2012
A whole weekend of recording guitars with a whooole lot of fun - as you can see. Andi K. and Toby B. beating themselves up with all kinds of six-strings! That's the way to go!!
DAY 6
02/11/2012
Even though guitar-recordings are fun they require a certain amount of concentration. But nevertheless there are certain things that make being distracted from the recording quite enjoyable. So we had a nice surprise-visit by the german online-mag "mash!up" who were quite interested in what we're doing right now and who invited us to an interview right on the spot. We liked it!
DAY 5
02/10/2012
Guitars, guitars and more guitars. The first 4 songs are down with all 6-strings and a surprise visit even led to a re-entry in the guitar-family of what's now called the "Mayer-Strat" not a moment too soon or too late - just the right one. Now with a smooth transition from friday to saturday we are sliding into the next session.
DAY 4
02/08/2012
Today any guitarists dreams came true. All guitars have gotten new strings, all available guitar-amps and -cabinets got connected, switched within each other, combined differently and then chosen by satisfaction. Preamps, cables, microphones and all that weird studio-stuff got switched back and forth until after only 12 hours we finally had all out favourite guitar-sounds ready to got. Awesome day!!
DAY 3
02/05/2012
Today we managed to tape the drums for the last four songs in only 3 hours. Now, just a little editing and afterwards we'll continue with some more bass-overdubs, baby!
Here's a little time-lapse-video from our last drum-recording today - enjoy!
DAY 2
02/04/2012
After placing ourselves to our spots in the big recording-room at B9 Studios in Frankfurt we've recorded the first 8 drums-tracks in about 6 hours.
ROBBY: "Best recording ever!!! Recording "live" with the boys gives the songs a whole new energy in contrast to playing to a playback. Eye-contact as well as the possibilitie to check what Pogo's fingers are doing makes it all the more alive. 4 more songs tomorrow and I can't wait to keep 'em rocking!!!"
DAY 1
02/03/2012
Beginning today we are setting up for the next couple of weeks in one of the best ...no wait, THE best studio in Frankfurt ...no, wait ...in THE WHOLE WORLD!!!
Tomorrow drum-recording
with bass and guitar live! Yeehaaw!
